U-Pick the Colorway Contest Winners

First Place goes to Persimmon Leaves, the clear winner with the most votes.  Y’all especially loved the transition between the deep blue-green leaves, to the lighter ones, so I knew it would be perfect for our transitions base.  Perfect for faking complicated colorwork.  Congrats to Erin!  You’ll be getting a scarf you can knit from in the mail soon.

Next comes Urchin Tones.  Soft greens and blues with hints of silvers.  I am in love with this colorway!  You can find it in the shop on our bamboo/merino sock blend, our Squishy superwash/nylon blend and in our Bambino fiber.  Makes me want to visit the ocean and smell the salty air.  Congrats to Liz on this one!

And last, but definitely not least is Black Raspberries.  Another favorite, gorgeous pinks, both deep and soft, a hint of black and leafy greens.  I am craving summer berry pies already!  Faith is going to get one of these in her mailbox.  Start stalking those mail carriers!

If you didn’t win this time, no worries, we’ll be posting the next contest tomorrow!  I’m going to keep it to one winner this time, but the good news is, you don’t have to suggest the winning skein to be entered into the drawing, anyone who participates will have a chance to win, and you’ll be able to suggest 3 colorways.  If there’s not a clear winner, I may do a vote off of the top three.  Yay I can’t wait!  Off to pin some more inspiration to the board…

Pancakes

Sorry this has been such a slow blog week – the good news is it’s because I’ve been dyeing up a storm.  I’ll post a little preview soon.

In the meantime, I love love love me some pancakes.  We have breakfast for dinner at least twice a month, especially when I’m spending a lot of time in the dye studio.  I discovered Ricotta pancakes awhile ago and used to think I had to do some kind of special fancy recipe to make them.  But I’ve discovered an amazing secret – just take any recipe, even a mix, and add 1 Cup of ricotta or even cottage cheese.  Instant ricotta pancakes!

Speaking of pancakes, check out this hilarious music video.  I went to high school with the drummer.  I love it when a band has a sense of humor.

Cozy Creamy Housesocks OtN

On the Needles this week – some super cozy wool housesocks.  I’ve been needing these so much this winter, but keep putting them off.  Sick kiddos means lots of time spent watching Sesame Street and other kids TV.  Sometimes my babies just need me to sit with them to feel better.  It feels great to be needed, but my hands do get itchy.  Perfect time to pull out some of my Felt Good base and design a big old pair of socks.

I’ll post a pattern for you when I’m all done writing it up.  They’re the perfect project for your first pair of socks, or just some instant gratification.  I came close to finishing the first one in just one afternoon.

Potential

Love how just a stack of fat quarters can be so inspiring.  I was so ucky to catch an awesome sale on them at my local quilt shop Sewn.  What would you make?
