Pick our Next Colorway (and win it)
Is anyone else ridiculously addicted to Pinterest? I spend so much time on there it’s getting ridiculous.
Did I mention ridiculous?
For those of you yet unaware, it’s a site where you can build virtual pinboards of amazing things you find online. For me it’s become another stash. Except this time, instead of stashing yarn, fiber, fabric, or beads, I’m stashing ideas, plans, future projects.
One part I love love love is that I can build an entire board of photos/palettes that inspire me when creating colorways for yarn and fiber. Here’s my colorways board if you’d like to take a peek.

In fact, do peek, because there are so many great palettes there I don’t even know where to start. Leave a comment with y0ur favorite palette for spring that you’d like to see on yarn or fiber. I’ll create colorways inspired by the top 3.
The people who suggested them will be entered into a drawing, and I’ll pick one winner per colorway. Plus one winner from everyone who participates and that winner can choose their favorite from the 3.
Deadline for suggestions is Tuesday night, because I’m having my first dye day of the year on Wednesday – I can’t wait! Feel free to suggest up to three colorways.
Yay for Color!
I love the Branching Hues for spring – even without the photo I can picture the scene.
I love that one too!
I’m a neutral addict, so I really, really liked the “blackened tones”. Though frankly, any of these would be gorgeous.
I just stumbled on your blog via twitter. I’ll have to keep your yarns in mind for future projects!
Thanks Maria! I sometimes forget as a dyer how gorgeous neutrals can be, but I’m always reaching for them as a knitter. I can’t find “blackened tones” though – did you pick this from my board? Do you mean the mineral greys? Maybe I’m just blinded by the sheer number I pinned!
I must’ve gotten my boards confused! I’ll switch my fave to Mineral Grays! Followed closely by new beginnings and scooped tones.
you have a ton of great ones! it was hard to choose one, but i like fallen frost the best
I love this one too!
they are all so beautiful….i’m torn between Black Raspberries (drool!) and Glamorous Escape!
blackberries make for good colorway inspiration – I think I have 2 blackberry photos pinned!
My favs are Blossom Hues, Winter wrapped and Dark. By the way, I love looking at your pinterest page, and would love to make one of my own, but I can’t get an invite. It’s been quite a while that I requested but no luck. How did you get in?
I sent you an invite Debbie – hopefully that’ll do it!
I like the Fresh Berries hues, because I have lots of berries growing in my yard in the summer.
I can only pick 1?!!!
more macro spring
You can pick 3 Kate!
My #1 would be Branch but I’m also digging Creature tones.
I vote for cornflower blues – not only are the blues lovely, but that touch of yellow makes me think of daffodils and little yellow birds in spring…
New beginnings, because to me spring is pale greens and pinks. Also, yellows, but you don’t have a color palette that includes all three. =)
Persimmon is my favorite. I just kept scrolling back and forth and that is the one that kept jumping out at me. I loved them all though. What a great way of putting it all in one spot to review.
I really like the “autumn spectrum” color set.
Arranged Tones-love it!
I really like the Pantina.
Duh! Try this again with the correct spelling.
I really like the Patina.
Can I just say I love how all your faves are so varied? I love hearing about it! If there are no clear favorites, I’ll just throw them all in a jar and leave it to the luck of the draw.
I like the cornflower blues and autumn spectrum color combinations, though there are a lot of pretty combos shown!
I really like the persimmon leaf. The colors are really vibrant. On the other hand, I also like the muted colors of misty tones. And I’d love to see what you would do with the Flower Power picture way at the bottom (there wasn’t a color board with it). You can count any of those as my favorite; it was simply too hard to choose just one!
So many lovely choices. I really like Urchin Tones–I love wearing those colors!
I LOVE the persimmon colors. Nice and orange-y, but not too much.
I love the persimmon hues. So pretty.
Sorry. It’s called persimmon leaf color palette. I just love those blues with the orange.
love the alp hues!
I love the Floating Tones palette. Either that or Blooming Tones — really like that pop of purple.
Oh, my. They’re all amazing. And it’s so hard to not choose based on the photos, not just the colours … Wow. This is tough. I’m going to have to go with persimmon leaf. But it’s only beating out about 15 others by a hair!
I love black raspberries
Must say I cannot stay away from the persimmon leaf color palette, those colors just progress so nicely along together, and the spiced neutral is a fun dash of interesting in a low key base. Arch is also one of my favorites, cause I’m a sucker for older architecture and some how the colors seem comfy even though the photo is of stone. Nice selection and thanks for letting us take part!
I love the Black Raspberries and closely followed by Dark.
i know i’m too late, but i just wanted to say how much i love the urchin tones and the black raspberry – a lot! i’m sure your yarns will be lovely, as always. can’t wait to see what you decided!
You’re actually not too late Jenny! My dye day plans were derailed by sick kiddos, so I’m still open to suggestions in the meantime. Hopefully I’ll have the dye pots bubbling sometime this week.
I’m loving the starry hues, so pretty! Followed closely by by amethyst crystals (two of my kids birthstones) and then mineral rocks. I just love purple!
